From time to time we have been asked by our customers how to find the right replacement for final drives. Truly, in the heavy equipment world, nothing lasts forever, from the simplest part of your bucket tooth to your engine this big part all has a certain working life, even though you can do your best to expand its lifetime through proper use and maintenance, someday that part is going to wear out. In the case of the final drive on your excavators, bulldozers or other construction machines that breakdown will bring you worries and urgency for a replacement. If that's your case or you are just planning, we have put those instructions in simple guidance, helping you to find your replacement final drive fast and accurately.
- Find the final drive tag or the serial number.
When it comes to machine parts, you need to be sure you have all the information necessary to get the right parts. Too often machine owners received the unmatched parts because the supplier been provided with the wrong information. The most important information is the machine serial number. Though that doesn't always ensure accuracy, when it comes to your machine's final drive, there is no better information to get than the numbers off the final drive tag.
For almost all equipment, the final drive tag is found on the motor under a cover. Getting to this part of the drive is not a challenging task at all. Generally, all you will need is a socket wrench and a rag. You do this by pulling off the cover of your final drive with a socket wrench, clean off the plate, and getting the information.
A MAG number is one of the most important numbers on the tag. Other numbers may include the part number, serial number of the drive, and speed ratios. It's important to get the right final drive information off your drive so you can get the right part for your machine. The final drive information may not mean anything to you, however to someone else like us, it will be everything they need to know to match a final drive to your machine.
- Check the hub size or simply take a clear photo through your cell phone.
Too often, the machine owners are under the impression they have the OEM drive when in fact, somewhere along the life of the machine, they had an aftermarket drive installed. When this happens, sometimes the machine serial number isn't going to be what is required to make sure a replacement drive is correct. This is why getting the tag information off the drive's tag is vital. One of the problems owners run into is getting a drive that doesn't fit the sprocket. This is because sometimes aftermarket drives have different size hubs, needing a sprocket with a different diameter. If you are unsure whether it’s OEM or aftermarket final drives, get the tag information by simply taking a clear photo f the tag and its neighborhoods on your cellphone and send to sales@originmachinery.com our sales expert will help you find the correct final drives. IT's that simple!
